SAVAB-Flanders Award 2011

On March 18, 2011, the Small Animal Veterinary Association of Belgium (SAVAB)-Flanders presented its 2011 award to Dr. Koen Van Rompay because of his work with Sahaya International and Sahaya International.edu. Because Koen resides in California and couldn't attend, veterinary doctor Klaas Soethout (from Langbroek, Netherlands), who is also on the board of directors of Sahaya.eu came to receive the award.

Text of Bea Wuijten for the 3 Totem Poles, symbolic of Koen's work with Sahaya:

Original text:

Het ZIEN
van wat krom,
verkeerd,
kapot is.
De INSPANNING
om dit te proberen recht te trekken,
te laten groeien,
en kleur te geven.
Dat is het werk van
KOEN VAN ROMPAY.
En dat is een kunstwerk op zichzelf.

Translation:

To see
what is wrong,
bent,
broken.
The EFFORTS to try to straighten this,
to have it grow,
and to give it color,
That is the work of
Koen Van Rompay.
And that is art by itself.
